Gömböc 1546 was presented to Trinity College, Cambridge, in October 2008 to commemorate its founding year, 1546. It is now being exhibited to personal guests by the Master of the College, Lord Rees of Ludlow, at the Master’s Lodge (which is regrettably not open to the public). Lord Rees, President of the Royal Society, referred in his speech to the mathematical roots of the Gomboc as well as its connection to one of Trinity’s previous Visiting Fellows, Professor V I Arnold, whose 1995 conjecture led to the discovery of the new shape.
