Founded in 1957 by world-renowned Russian mathematican Sergey Sobolev, the institute bearing his name is Siberia‘s foremost mathematical center as well as one of the excellent research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Located in the Akademgorodok district of Novosibirsk, the institute’s wall proudly displays a series of plaques honoring the memory of its most famous past professors.
Carrying the year of foundation of the city Novosibirsk, Gömböc 1893 is on display in the library’s central showcase, next to the items commemorating the founder of the Institute.
